This is a workshop designed for Spanish teachers who would like to become acquainted with approaches to teaching Spanish as a foreign language in a conceptual, inquiry-based environment.
Participants will develop an understanding of the Concept-Based Curriculum and Instruction (CBCI) framework for teaching Spanish as a foreign language, and will develop an appreciation of teaching beyond grammatical structures and vocabulary, welcoming the intellect and socio emotional intelligence into the classroom. Participants will work with high quality published resources (MYP Spanish By Concept, Published by Hodder Education) and will develop and/or consolidate skills on CBCI planning and teaching lessons. Participants will also explore relevant aspects of assessment and Spanish as a foreign language curriculum design.
This workshop is a great professional development opportunity for Spanish teachers who would like to hone their understanding of CBCI, as well as for those Spanish teachers who work at IB schools in the International arena. The workshop is delivered in Spanish.
